Knobs and broomsticks
Well there was a broomstick on one of the pictures but the fancy zooming in cut it out :-) All the appliances will be delivered tonight so they should be installed very soon. We are having a minor setback (hopefully only minor) with the granite countertops... they guy's phones seemed to be shut off, not so sure what is going on but anyhow, one way or another we will get the counter tops but until then, no sink. The tile will get finished up soon as well and we should have a brand new kitchen! All the new interior doors were installed today as well. Its starting to feel like a new house all together.

The tile is being installed
Once the tile is a bit further along and cleaner I will take some pictures of it here. He just got started. Right now it looks like we will be painting this weekend and the cabinets will be installed on Monday and then we are almost there.......

I think we are at the half way point...
Today we are 18 days in to the main part of the project- tearing out the kitchen. We now have walls and lights! It makes a huge difference. Right now we are pretty much on track to finish up sometime during the week of the 15th.

Week 1 of demolition
The first week of demolition has been pretty trying on us. Mostly for the fact that we dont have anywhere to cook our food. It's been raining, but we have been cooking outside on the BBQ, and the fridge is in the garage. Not sure how much longer till this is all done, but we are managing!

No more popcorn ceilings!
The first phase of our remodel was actually removing the poporn from the ceiling. It took two weeks total. The first week was the main part of the house, the second week was the last two bedrooms.

yard Remodel
The yard was supposed to be done this summer..... we will let you know how it goes. So far we have done all the work ourselves. It has taken us much longer then expected and that is mostly due to the fact that we have to dig a drain trench that is on a slight slope going towards the side yard for all the water runn off. At the end of this trench it needs to be about 14" deep so you can imagine why it is taking so long. Plus our yard is pretty much made up of cement and rocks. The goal of the yard remodel is to extend our patio quite significantly with flagstone. Because our yard has a pretty decent slope downwards towards the house, we are extending the patio and building a retaining wall and then leveling out the grass behind it. We are actually doing a double retaining wall. A small flower bed will sit behind the first wall and then the next wall up will be the border to the yard. We are also including a few steps in order to make it easier to get to the grass. I also through it a fountain area last minute that is taking a lot of time to dig out.

Bye Bye Kitchen
Week 1 of the remodel consists of the tear out of all 7 layers of lanolium and plywood that has been here since the 1970's. Now we are left with an ugly avocado green floor until the new tile gets layed next week.
